Sun, sea and stars: Hot destinations for celeb-spotting

What better souvenir from your holiday than the boast that you rubbed shoulders with the stars? Pick the perfect destination where you can sip Kumquat Martinis with Hollywood's finest. Or at the very least, slurp Malibu and Coke with ex-EastEnders?
1. Rome
Star rating: A-listers
If it was good enough for Madonna and Guy Ritchie on their second honeymoon, you can bet Rome's good enough for any A-lister. Filming for Ocean's 12 has seen Brad Pitt and George Clooney living it up in the Italian capital; with Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta Jones, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts also in town, locals must have thought Hollywood had descended. George is such a fan of Tuscany after holidaying there with Brad and Jen, he snapped up a 15-room house on Lake Como. Recently he returned with his movie pals for a holiday, with on-off girlfriend Lisa Snowdon in tow.
Hip hangouts:
Sneak into the terraced garden of Hotel de Russie, beside the Spanish Steps, and you're sure to be in jetset company - this is where many actors stay. Meanwhile, Madonna favours the Hassler. After hours, the well-heeled tap their feet at the Jazz Café.

2. Balearics
Star rating: A to Z-listers
For years, the beautiful people have flocked to Mallorca in this group of Mediterranean islands off the east coast of Spain. In the north island Michael Douglas courted Catherine Zeta Jones at his incredible villa, while nearby Claudia Schiffer enjoys family holidays in Valle de Mossa. Meanwhile, Ibiza's party-central status has long been a magnet to the rockistocracy. Duran Duran and Jade Jagger are familiar faces. Liam Gallagher loves it so much he bought Mike Oldfield's old villa, complete with guitar-shaped pool. The fashionista favour hedonistic times here, with Elle McPherson, Matthew Williamson, Kate Moss and John Paul Gaultier shaking their skinny limbs along with Stateside glitterati like Paris Hilton and P Diddy.
Hip hangouts:
If you want to sip sangrias with a stellar crowd, book a table at La Residençia in the poshest part of Mallorca, Deià. But if it's booty shaking you're after, your best bet's Ibiza. Head to the Rock bar in Ibiza Town, or try Manumission's back room, the Music Box (Monday nights). If you want a more civilised entry into their hallowed social circles, Las Dos Lunas and El Clodenis are the best restaurants to see and be seen at.
