- 125g soft margarine, plus extra for greasing
- 225g plain flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 125g caster sugar
- 1 large egg
- 6 tbsp milk
For the topping
- 6 tbsp plain flour
- 6 tbsp caster sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 75g soft margarine

- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/gas mark 4. Grease a 20cm/8inch cake tin and line base with greaseproof paper.
- Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. Spread the mixture evenly in the cake tin.
- For the topping, mix the dry ingredients together and rub in the margarine to a crumbly texture. Sprinkle over the cake mixture in the tin.
- Cook for about 35-40 minutes until risen.
