Whistles while you work
Wow, what a fantastic week! It was my birthday, but this year I had decided not to have a party and not do anything. However, unbeknown to me, when I came back from work, my children had cooked me a four course meal. It started with homemade tomato soup, followed by steamed chicken with grilled vegetables followed by homemade carrot cake with cream cheese topping and homemade brownies - so other than putting on a stone - it was a really lovely surprise and to top it all off they'd saved up all their pocket money to buy me a stone Buddha head, which had caught my eye a few months ago. I honestly don't know how they got it in the house as it's so heavy! Apparently they tried to get it in a wheelbarrow, but it fell out in the middle of the road, so I'm really pleased it arrived in one piece! Of course, they are now offering to do lots of odd jobs around the house, to earn some more pocket money!
Product of the week: I had to go to a few events this week, one of them at the Ivy Club (it's my favourite place to go in the world at the moment - bar Bali obviously!), so in order to make myself look slightly more healthy than my current pale pallor, I used my favourite product - Xentan. They've come up with a new version which is brilliant, it's called Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe. It lasts all week and it smells like a really nice body lotion. It's the perfect pick you up now that it's so cold and having a tan hides a multitude of sins! When you're pale, you can see every imperfection!
One of my top tips is never put fake tan on your face, because if you have pigmentation, it makes it worse and it clogs your pores. Mineral powders are the way forward for the face - no talc, chemicals or dyes. Mineral powders allow skin to breathe which means you can wear a silky veil of foundation without the worry of a breakout.
My favourite mineral powder is by Mac and is called Mineralize Skin Finish. It makes you look as if you've got nothing on your skin at all apart from a healthy glow.
Another thing that's good for your skin (I swear by it and have been taking it for years) is Pure Collagen Skin supplements from Protocol, which is anti-ageing.
I popped into Whistles this week, I haven't been in there for around eight years (!) and I thought it had some really lovely clothes (pictured). There are so many items which are nicely tailored but comfortable too, ideal for the workplace! I bought myself a fabulous gold jumper, which I will be sharing with Olivia - my eldest daughter (I'm sure it has already been stolen)! I made the mistake of using her as my mannequin because I couldn't be bothered to get undressed and dressed myself.
I wanted to get the jumper and a pair of green high-waisted trousers, but although they looked amazing on my daughter, the trousers had the length of knickerbockers on myself! Being six foot tall it is a nightmare getting trousers the right length, but I had forgotten that simple fact. I had to take them back to the shop unfortunately.
Luckily, Long Tall Sally are coming out with a very similar pair next year which will be the right length for tall ladies - so look out for them!
