What if your employer wont play ball?
The vast majority of employers (however grudgingly!) do accept the value and benefits of holidays and are unlikely to try to evade the requirements of the legislation. But if you come up against a reluctant boss, remember you do have an absolutely cast iron right to annual leave. You also have statutory protection if youre discriminated against or victimised in any way as a result of raising the issue of your entitlement. That said, I know its scary to have to put your head above the parapet, so it may be advisable to see if other staff are in the same boat and try to raise a collective grievance instead.
