Help for low income workers

question
I’m claiming Working Families Tax Credit because I am on a low wage. Will I get anything extra to help me with the cost of my new baby?

You may qualify for a Sure Start Maternity Grant of £500 if you are receiving a qualifying benefit. Qualifying benefits are income-based JobSeekers Allowance or Income Support. You can also get this grant if you are getting Child Tax Credit of at least £10.45 a week (£20.90 if you have a baby under one). You should claim the grant from your local JobCentre Plus on form SF100 within three months of the birth.
