They took my job, can they take my holiday too?
Last Wednesday I was dismissed from my company, I was given one month's notice, which I'm not required to work. Before I was given my month's notice, I booked eight days' leave, which fall inside my month's notice period. As I have ten days annual holiday entitlement, and have already used one day, I have been told that I will only receive pay for the one day of holiday that I have owing. Is this correct? What happens if I had cancelled this leave? timarunz
If you have booked and are taking eight days' leave during your notice period (for which you will presumably be paid in full), then I'm afraid the company is right in saying you only get an extra one day's pay at the end. If you had cancelled your leave the situation might have been different - but bear in mind that many companies require employees to take accrued holiday during their notice periods.
