Finding your entrepreneurial passion
Most people would like to feel passionate about their work, but what happens when you're not sure what your passion is?
One iVillager asked: 'How do you figure out what your passion is?'
Another member provided an eloquent response:
'I was in the same predicament not too long ago. Everyone told me the same thing: "Find something you love to do." I loved horses, but had already tried training and giving riding lessons, neither of which I wanted to do full-time.
'Recently, though, I started a horse gift business. And I found a job as a receptionist close to home and do my new business on the side. I hope that it will become a full-time endeavour in the near future. What you need to do is look for things related to what you love, and then you will find a job you love.'
That iVillager is right on track. Follow these simple steps and you'll find work that you love:
- Make a list of all your interests and hobbies and then another list of skills and experiences.
- Ask yourself: 'Could the two lists be combined in any way toward a venture?'
- Start your venture part-time. Three-quarters of home businesses are started that way.
With persistence and some trial-and-error work, you can find the enterprise that will make you look forward to work every morning.
