Top 10 tips for a successful day

1. Take a bit of time in the morning deciding what to wear and blow-drying your hair. It sounds very superficial, but it really works. If you look smart then you feel more capable of dealing with the day.
2. Plan the five most important tasks that MUST get done that day. Then don't let yourself get distracted. If you complete the vital jobs then you know you'll return home relaxed after having a productive day.
3. Start the day with a cup of tea and tell yourself that you're going to have a good day no matter what. If you decide to be in complete control of your feelings and let nothing upset you, there's every chance that you will have a productive day.
4. Play feelgood music on your way to work, turn it up and sing along. Nothing will phase you for the next few hours.
5. Remember to wear a smile and have a sense of humour, then you can handle pretty much anything that the day throws at you.
6. I find my whole day goes better if I start slowly. Rather than waking up 10 minutes before I have to leave, I try to take time to have a good breakfast with some nice coffee. A calm start makes me feel more relaxed and ready for whatever the day throws at me.
7. I like to plan my day the night before. I find I sleep better - a good start - and my work goes much more smoothly the next day. The pre-prepared plan makes me more relaxed, and there's always the satisfaction of ticking off the completed items.
8. Try and walk (or cycle) to work if at all possible. It's worth getting up a bit earlier for this, as it really does get the working day off to a much better start.
9. Avoid coffee in the mornings - it gives you a little pep up, but you soon run out of steam. Better to wake up with tea, or a simple glass of water. The big no-no, however, is a high-carb lunch (pasta, potatoes etc). It's guaranteed to make you drowsy for the next 2 hours.
And finally...
10. Have plenty of sex in the morning! Not only will it give you more energy all day, it will put a smile on your face remembering it!
