- 1 large egg
- 150ml milk mixed with 150ml cold water
- pinch each salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 25g beef dripping or vegetable (not olive) oil

- Preheat the oven to //gas mark Place the flour and egg in a bowl then slowly whisk in the liquid to make a smooth batter. Season generously. Alternatively, whizz the ingredients in a liquidiser.
- Dot the oil or dripping into a bun tray and put into the oven until hot and, for dripping, melted. Pour in the batter and return the bun tray to the oven for mins or until the puddings are risen and golden.
